10 Tests That Changed Healthcare
As part of Biomedical Science Day 2026, this public evening webinar will explore 10 tests that changed healthcare.
Laboratory tests have transformed modern medicine. From identifying blood groups and diagnosing heart attacks to detecting infection, monitoring diabetes, confirming cancer and guiding personalised treatment, biomedical science is central to the way healthcare works today.
As part of Biomedical Science Day 2026, this public evening webinar will explore 10 tests that changed healthcare and reveal the often-unseen laboratory science behind diagnosis, treatment, screening and patient safety. The talk will consider familiar tests such as full blood counts, blood cultures, HbA1c, troponin, PCR, histopathology and genomic testing, showing how each has shaped patient care and changed clinical practice.
Designed for a general audience, the session will be accessible, engaging and relevant to anyone interested in healthcare, science, medicine, diagnosis or the future of patient care. It will also be of interest to prospective students, current students, alumni, healthcare professionals and members of the public who want to understand more about the vital role biomedical scientists play behind the scenes.
