Focus: This theme will explore how environmental conditions鈥攑articularly heat stress鈥攁ffect human health, wellbeing, and physical performance. It will examine physiological and perceptual responses to heat exposure including thermoregulation, hydration strategies, heat acclimation, and the impact of environmental conditions on exercise capacity and safety. Projects may range from controlled laboratory-based heat exposure studies to field-based investigations and large-scale population surveys.
Focus: This theme will include topics that focus on supporting athlete health and wellbeing. More specifically, possible topics include sports and exercise injury and illness risk factors and prevention strategies, female athlete health, including the menstrual cycle, menstrual symptoms and breast health. Projects range from laboratory-based to large-scale population surveys. Participants will range from being physically active to elite athletes.
Focus: This theme will explore the use of digital health technologies (smart phones, wearables and online data collection tools) to observe the variables that influence physical activity participation. Populations investigated will include other students but techniques will be applicable to other populations including those living with long term health conditions.
